I have heard of a similar problem before, but as I am not lucky enough to have a pentium-m system i didn't take it all in.
I suggest you look at the "Linux Thinkpad" mailing list archives. I'm pretty sure thats where it was. If I find it in my own overfull mail system I will let you know.
