Hello,

Well a 'df' is quite ugly on my portable, as both /var and /usr
are each 10 G and are over 90%.

on /var, I:
cd /var/tmp/portage
rm -r *

Figuring that I can download everything anew.

Disk usage Dropped to less than 5%...OK

on /usr

I wacked /usr/src except for the current kernel tree
saving ~1.6 G....

However, if memory servers, folks have in the past recommended wacking
/usr/portage to some degree to get control over disk space. Here I'm a
little more cautious.
du -hx --max-depth=1 /usr
reveals:

59M /usr/qt
160M /usr/bin
924M /usr/kde
1.1G /usr/lib
2.1G /usr/src <before aforementioned pruning>
6.5M /usr/sbin
5.5M /usr/kdevbdb
2.5M /usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu
228K /usr/games
0 /usr/local
1.8G /usr/share
500K /usr/libexec
49M /usr/include
3.7G /usr/portage
9.6G /usr

Or is there a better candidate to whack/prune?

Suggestions are most welcome!

James
