Or put it into the preup function of /etc/conf.d/net

I have this on my laptop

preup() {
    if [ ${IFACE} == "wlan0" ]; then
        # Stop eth0 if running
        /etc/init.d/net.eth0 --quiet status && /etc/init.d/net.eth0 stop
        # Initialise wlan drivers
        /etc/init.d/wlan restart
