Ok, thanks for trying. It was worth a shot. >>Also, it might be interesting to see the dmesg output for the IDE >>controller. >> >> > >With access mode set to "lba" (this is the same for "large"): >Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 7.00alpha2 >ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx >VP_IDE: IDE controller at PCI slot 0000:00:11.1 >ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:11.1[A] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 > > Hmm, ACPI....I can't remember if 2.4 supported ACPI...its been too long for me since I ran 2.4. I'm now in agreement with the others in this thread that your best chance is to fiddle with the kernel options in 2.6, maybe using the 2.4 kernel as a reference. The first things I would try is disabling ACPI and IO-APIC support. You can actually do that by passing 'acpi=off noapic' to the kernel on boot. -Richard -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
