I'll say I agree too, I would like to stop using systemd-tmpfiles, but
opentmpfiles is not a viable choice.

At this point opentmpfiles seems actually dead and unmaintained, it
also seems doubtful that will change in the foreseeable future. Its
better to look into alternatives instead.
