Yet there are many websites that show these converted man pages, as well
as users looking them up there; that it doesn't make sense for you
doesn't necessarily mean that nobody else is doing it.

Yet another viewer I have to install; imagine that I had to do the same
for video formats, then I'd have to install an AVI player, a MKV
player, a MP4 player, a MOV player, an OGG player, a VOB player, ...

No, I'd rather have a single converted format and/or a single player.
