What has changed:

make.defaults of targets/desktop/ is enabling USE="udisks upower" and NOT enabling USE="gdu"

package.use of targets/desktop/ is enabling USE="gdu" for older gnome-base/gvfs versions (as in, stable versions)

What it means:

>=gnome-base/gvfs-1.12 will use UDisks2 instead of UDisks1 by default

/run/media/$user is used instead of /media

new kernel options are required to be enabled, and they will appear with CONFIG_CHECK when you emerge sys-fs/udisks:2
