So once a month is good, up to once a week, perhaps, but in any event, it's probably of little value to do it more often than one syncs, and if one syncs daily, or even the couple times a week I try to do, that's probably more often than the server is likely prepared to accept, just as users are urged not to sync more often than once a day, with Gentoo.
