Maybe part of the reason is that the list of package versions for Gentoo on distrowatch is inaccurate. For example it gives the versions of gcc and glibc in 'unstable' as 3.4.6 and 2.3.6 respectively when the actual versions are 4.1.2 and 2.5 respectively. -- gentoo-dev@gentoo.org mailing list
