Yes, he is completely serious. If you are unwilling to read the documentation (which includes the actual ebuilds themselves) then you are going to have a broken system. Nothing any of us can do for you but keep repeating the same mantra "RTFM". By the way, Gentoo has a reputation for providing the *BEST* documentation of any other distro. Many distros actually point their users to Gentoo docs/forums for answers. Why aren't you utilizing this awesome resource? Do you know how many man hours we put into those docs?
