Well...

* Whoever ends up maintaining said ebuild must understand it.
* Too much complexity is often a sign that you're doing something
wrong.
* Too much complexity often suggests that an eclass is needed.
* Too much complexity often suggests that upstream's build system is
annoyingly broken.
