The esyntaxer tool will warn and/OR autocorrect; user's choice. The warnings are intended to teach (by pointing to documentation) rather than just moaning and groaning. And while I'll agree that there are always edge cases and autocorrection will never be 100%, I must say that the kinds of errors I'm correcting aren't that hard.
