The name approved is “Apache DataLab” not “DataLab” and there some discussion why
“DataLab” may not be suitable as it s too generic and many other products use that
name. Also given recent discussions about the use of the Apache name (which you may
not be aware of) I wonder if branding the project branding strongly as "Apache
DataLab” is a good idea?
Speaking as VP, Brand Management...
While the name search issue quoted "Apache Data Lab", it is not a
mandatory requirement that the project always refers to itself with the
"Apache" prefix.
I also don't view "Data Lab" vs "DataLab" as an issue but I do strongly
recommend that the podling picks one form and sticks to it. From this
thread I am assuming it has picked "DataLab".
I have no concerns regarding the logo.
Given the generic nature of the name "DataLab", the podling may find it
needs to use the full project name more often than most ASF projects but
I am happy to leave that to the project's discretion.
