I consider the source release separately from the convenience binary releases.
I am on the Apache OpenOffice PMC where there is a single source release and
over 240 binary releases. I vote on the source release and one or two of the
pertinent binary releases. EG. I;ll vote on the us-en release but not the pt-br
or other language releases.
(BTW- We are about to VOTE for OpenOffice 4.1.6. RC1 now.)
When I do vote the checks are the same except I will attempt to build a source
release.
