It's funny you use 'constraints', I did a little thought experiment[1] with an analogy comparing system constraints->system properties to organizational constraints->desired properties a while back. As I mentioned there, I'm sure the analogy breaks down somewhere but it'd sure be nice to have some framework to agree on our desired organizational/cultural properties, then reason about what real constraints are in place and how/why they evoke those desired properties.
