FWIW, it's me who wrote that phrase in the proposal, after some Flex
community members pointed out that there's a number of entities
currently using "Flex" as part of their website, conference or other
names.

If the podling wants to keep the Flex name (which is the current
plan), it seems very unfair to me to ask bona fide Flex community
members to rename their stuff just because Flex decided to move.

As far as the ASF trademarks group is concerned, my understanding is
that trademarks management is delegated to the project's PMC, so (IMO)
Flex might very well decide to operate slightly differently than other
projects, due to its history.

As long as there's no confusion as to which Flex is which, and as long
as there's no favoritism in how people are allowed to use the Flex
name, I think this might work.

Now, we're talking about a podling which will have time to sort this
out before graduation. This might lead to a nice model that works for
the mutual benefit of Flex community members, or the conclusion might
be that the podling needs to change its name to Apache Rigid before
graduating (or some nicer name ;-)

In summary, IMO the idea here is to *try* to keep the Flex name, see
how that works, and change strategy if that doesn't.

I'll reply separately to Craig's list of existing websites.
