Hm, sounds like sour grapes reappearing. Having the subversion community
drop 10 years of common terminology and quickly adopt ours isn't what I
consider part and parcel of incubation. As that community continues to proceed
through the hallways and corridors of Apache, they will find less friction
when they talk about their project to other Apache people using terms that
Apache people can readily relate to. They can do that while at the same
time supporting local terminology specific to subversion, for as long as
they can maintain the two modes of speaking.

IOW, this does not require a top-down approach with a strict time-limit.
Subversion will pick up our terms naturally and probably phase out their
own just for the sake of having simplified their discussions with various
folks. We do not need to prod them; they will either see it as being in
their own best interests or will deal with the duality.

Fair enough.
