So far, what has been done, is that they have been released both as downloadable tarball [1] as well as through a pear channel server. Because the original project was not part of the the PEAR project itself, the distribution happened through a self-hosted version of such a channel server; the possibility of doing this again would be greatly useful to our users as they can very easily update this.
