Here's an idea from the Commons list that seemed attractive there and I'd like to ask what people think here.
Commons has the Commons Sandbox, which while it's often been viewed as Incubator-like is actually much more like Labs. New code is written or pieced together from many sources and then released. The only component I can think of (CSV) that came in wholly from outside hasn't done well because a somewhat finished product doesn't do well in a Labs situation. Rule 1: You can't release; is a bit of a pain for something that is ready to use. There's been interest in bringing things in, both inside Commons and from people wanting to bring things to Commons, but there really isn't a good process. Equally, there's not really a process in the Incubator which fits as each component is not enough to stand on its own as a potential future project. The barrier to promotion from Sandbox to Proper is: * 3 +1 votes indicating that: ** The component is ready for its first release. ** At least three people are developing/maintaining it. ** There's active user interest. Any thoughts on an Incubator Commons subproject where we can bring in new Commons components and vet them there without messing up the Sandbox-Labs approach?
