i've been wondering for a little while about tagging emails to create virtual mailing lists. apache has done subject tagging for ages for [VOTE]s and [PROPOSAL]s. over in jakartaland, subject tagging has been used to manage a high volume list ([<component>], [all], [doc], [site]). ATM cross project collaboration is limited by the formal structure of mailing lists which are not at all fluid. jakarta commons has to use clientside filtering over in the commons which discourages some developers. couldn't we hack together some cool cross list filtering delivery system based on subject tagging? say (for example) that dims, james and alan are all interested in [IO] but to avoid overload and they are subscribed to different mailing lists where [IO] is definitely on topic. maybe any subject tagged [IO] could be delivered to a virtual list (or feed as news?). making threads work would be difficult but i thought i'd throw it out there in case anyone else could think of a way to make it fly... - robert --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
