Folks could I ask a favor? It seems that Incubator has the worst track
record of hijaaking threads. I never mind one thread spawning off new
thoughts, but could we please change subject lines accordingly when it
becomes appropriate?

Niclas, I'm sure you see how your posting clearly didn't match the subject
line any longer, although it's all interesting discussion. By NO means
am I picking on your post ;-) It's happening all too often on this list.
Unfortunately, looking at emails by subject in this forum has become an
absolutely useless exercise.

I don't see it. If you think this is under incubation, then you need
to start by creating a status page that reflects the actual resources
being requested and by whom. After that, I suggest you find out the
actual list of committers.

Does this means that we are likely to see some increased requirements for projects to enter incubation??

 *  Multiple mentors?
 * +1 vote indicating true commitment of resources?
 * Limited number of podlings under one's mentorship?
 *  Multiple instances of approval?
 * Stronger ties within the ASF?
 * Lesser ties with commercial interests?
 * Bigger differentiation of podlings initial entry point?

Personally, I think something is required to change, and especially about mentorship. Some projects under incubation has good mentors, in others they seem fairly 'quiet' and sometimes other people are providing the actual mentoring.

Cheers
Niclas
