Thanks!  I did try to check the -dev list, but couldn't find the
archives, sorry.  When I re-posted the question to -dev as Noel
suggested, Salvatore  explained the situation.

I figured you were aware of the issue and dealing with it, but just
wanted to bring it to your attention just in case.
