The derby site seems manageable compared to some of the others on your list at http://www.apache.org/~noel/nagoya-references.txt. It seems to me that it'd be quite a chore to update all those references accurately if it has to be done completely manually -- and it's possible that information will get lost. I'm happy to offer help evaluating strategies to both rebuild the database and retain the current ids in some usable form, if you can use the help. But I also appreciate you might be so far into this project (your original email mentioned this would happen in "very short order") and you might have so many people thrown at the problem already that including one more person (who requires spinup) would only bog things down.
