Status Report for Apache Lenya May 2004 ------------------------------------------------------
* The Apache Lenya project finally has released an incubator release [1] - Lenya 1.2 after several months of development. A bugfix release (1.2.1) is planned for the near future. A release plan for a 1.4 version is currently prepared. A major change for 1.4 will be the integration of a content repository layer (JCR/Slide). * Mailing list traffic for both the user and developer as well as the number of live sites [2] is constanly growing. * The Lenya community decided to switch to SVN. Appropriate requests to infrastructure are still to be done. * Most parts of the _old_ wiki have been ported to the new MoinMoin wiki. * Thorsten Scherler started to restructure the Lenya website as well as the Lenya documentation. * The mentors, Stefano Mazzocchi and Nicola Ken Barozzi, of the Apache Lenya project have started a vote [3] to graduate Lenya to an Apache TLP. This is a very important step for the Lenya project and its community. NOTE: Apache Lenya is an effort undergoing incubation [4] at the Apache Software Foundation [5]. Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects. While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by the ASF.
