I can easily imagine that many (especially, Paul Hammant) participants in that mailing list would have received *personal* mails which should go to the lists directly. The current config of infrastructure@ must be reasonable because that list is to become "HELP DESK", not "LIST FOR DISCUSSION". However, "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" must be "LIST FOR DISCUSSION" and strengthen the [AltRMI], [FTPServer] communities. The apparent difference there might be. Again and again, Lists without "Reply-To" Header would be sure to become "inactive" lists soon.
