Hi,

I'm wondering the difference between ROI and checkpoints.

For checkpoints: the document mentions "checkpoints are dumped periodically".
I understand that checkpoint is for later resuming the same workload. But
why is periodic checkpoints necessary? From the m5out folder, it seems that
taking checkpoint will accumulate statistics from the previous start. Is
there a way to make statistics start from fresh when resuming the workload?

For ROI: If there are multiple regions of ROI, does that mean that program
will collect the combination of workload within the ROI markers. And that
program workload regions outside are discarded?

Would it be valid if I take multiple ROI maker and count for the difference
between the output stats file and use this as a form of "ROI"? Thanks a
lot!!

Best regards,
*Jer*
