Hello all, I would like to ask how to set the wbWidth (writeback width). It seems to be the max number of executed instructions sent to the commit stage each cycle. Should it be set as the other widths (fetch, decode, issue, etc), or is it related to anything else, as the number of functional units?
My simulation results, indicates that the wbWidth is limiting the IPC of a dual-issue pipeline to ~1. I'd say the IPC must be greater in favorable conditions. Thanks, -- Fernando A. Endo, PhD student and researcher Université de Grenoble, UJF France
