Thank you for your answer, Nilay. I am trying to implement an optical crossbar in gem5. When the switch in the crossbar reconfigures, no messages can be sent. This switching time takes a fixed number of ns,based upon the technology you use. By knowing the number of ns per cycle, I can implement this by not allowing messages to be transmitted for a number of cycles.
