Thank you, Steve. With swig 1.3.31 and gem5 (as opposed to
gem5-stable) the build errors go away.
I still get the same 5 failures -- 4 eio and 1 memtest. What's
the proper way to install the 'encumbered' package? I did not
readily find anything about where to plop it into the gem5
tree.
