Hi folks. I've been thinking about some changes I might want to make to how
decoding is done for the various ISAs, how the work is split up between the
decoder and the CPU, what decoders are and aren't allowed to do, and how
some of the important but less visited aspects of x86 microcode work.

I'm planning to pick at these things little by little, but since I think
few people have a broad understanding of all the ins and outs of how
decoding works I thought it would be a good idea to write up a central
document which goes over everything at a medium level (vs high or low).
That way later when I talk about more specific aspects, more people will
have enough context to be able to participate.

Please let me know if anything in the document is confusing or unclear, or
if I've gotten anything wrong :-)
