I can contribute on a project that results in a low power ARM9 that can run linux motherboard. TI makes one, others too. By low power, I want a max consumption of about 3/4 Watts, and a sleeping/idling mode that is much smaller. Have not even run that part down yet -- not sure how good that TI chip is yet. The usual ones found in small boxes such as broadcomm consume 3 or 4 Watts.
