I forgot to mention, you have to keep pins ending on gschem's 100x100 grid, and when you're done editing, select everything, and go to edit->symbol translate (leave 0 in the box), and press ok. This puts the symbol into the corner of the page, so when you place it that's where it sticks to the mouse.
