Hello GDAL community,

this is an update about references to the GDAL project (and project community)
within scientific publications by the GDAL DOI
(https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5884351).

The growth of DOI-based references continues and accelerates:

In 2022, following the initial DOI minting for GDAL, 6 publications cited GDAL
by its DOI.

In 2023, 7 publications used the GDAL DOI.

In 2024 we have **12** publication, so far.

A listing of all these publications citing GDAL in this manner is available
here: https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/DOI#GDAL

I find it fascinating to realize, in how many different fields of science GDAL
is applied and due credit is given to the project community.

Kind regards,
Peter
