Folks,

I've added a new patch to the RFC 39 page. The attached files (the latest patch and the autotest code) contain now

- new methods in OGRFeature and especially the new overlay methods in OGRLayer
- additions to the C API
- additions to the swig bindings
- documentation of the new overlay methods
- initial test code for the methods, written in Python in the general autotest style
- the methods make progress calls

The methods still need some testing, especially the corner cases and of all features (attributes, progress functions etc), but I'm rather happy with the logics now. However, the API and the logic of the methods could still be discussed.

There are four helper functions and maybe some of them could go into the C++ API.

Thus, basically all the pieces are in there. Even pointed out several issues with the code, and I've attended to all of them. However, the code could use some review still - also from the style point of view. There a some comments in the code, but in general - also because of the helper functions - I would say that they are quite ok IMO.

What would it take to adopt this RFC?

Ari
