That's because the NCS password dialog uses Carbon APIs, which are not 64bit 
(and will never be).  And since Leica isn't maintaining ECW lib, they will 
probably never update it to use Cocoa.

What I do is just completely disable the password dialog feature of ECW.  See 
my ECW build page (includes a few other patches also):
