The point is that *my* performance function may be a measure of the availability of decent backtraces. > So, you will be able to use --enable-frame-pointer configure option. Most of the computing world would probably benefit far more from usable backtraces than from increases in efficiency; those individuals who fret about efficiency are likely better suited to fiddling with non-default flags.
