Please use gcc-help, so that someone can help you with your installation problem. All g++'s from 3.0 on ship with a standard library that has <algorithm>, <functional>, etc. You do not need any third-party package like STLport. It is unclear what you did wrong from your message, but it's off-topic for the gcc list.
