I tested the patch on MIPS and things looked good there too.  I got the
desired speedup and did not see any regressions.
It's on my list of things to look at. The patch clearly was in prior to stage1 close and is thus eligible for inclusion in GCC 5. Slogging through stuff as quickly as I can.
