to figure out what you'd like to do… I _only_ care about consistency between
contents as seen from svn and git. Stripping ^M can do this, as can marking
them as binary. So marking them, ensures that the ^Ms are always there, both
on ^M systems and non-^M systems.

I would strip the CR's, not a big deal, and not worth worrying about.
