I think this can be simplified to: if (integer_onep (shift_op2)) return NULL; This is slightly different in that it lets through things like: svint64_t foo(svint64_t x) { return svmul_x(svptrue_b64(), x, INT64_MIN); } treating it in the same way as: svuint64_t bar(svuint64_t x) { return svmul_x(svptrue_b64(), x, 1ULL << 63); } But I think that's the correct behaviour, since the bitpattern for the svmul result depends only on the bitpatterns of the operands. It isn't sensitive to the sign. That'll affect the signed tests too, which cover this case well. Otherwise it looks really good, thanks.
