I am not sure what you are describing here - perhaps this report belongs on the macports issues? I have not been able to reproduce your issue with either 15.3 or 15.3-darwin (albeit on rosetta, but with stock Xcode 3.1.4 tools (starting with Apple gcc-4.2 to build GCC10.5 and then using gcc-10.5 to build 15.3 ... no other additions, standard linker, assembler and dsymutil - GMP et. al. built in-tree).
