The issue we have is that the supercomputers that our scientists have time on have old versions of GCC and getting them to update is a very slow process (sometimes months or even a year), and our local workstations typically use what comes with the OS (between 10 and 13). Installing GCC 15 is not difficult with APT, but there have been other complications with the new versions with some of our old codes. Having a backport to 13 would be great as its still the GCC used in Ubuntu 24.04 as well as in many other distros. The backport would not have to "implement" it, just ignore it if that makes the dev time faster/easier. - Ron
