When building gcobol in a non English system an error message appears:

Using export LANGUAGE=C before building solves the problem. Adding
LC_ALL=C
export LC_ALL
LANGUAGE=C
export LANGUAGE
at gcc/cobol/Make-lang.in would solve the problem.
