Semi-fixed on the mainline by:
2004-07-04  Mark Mitchell  <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
        
        * configure.ac (ranlib_flags): New variable.
        * Makefile.in (RANLIB_FLAGS): New variable.
        (libbackend.a): Use it.
        * configure: Regenerated.

All that needs to happen now is to use RANLIB_FLAGS while calling ranlib in the ada 
subdirectory.
