sorry for my shortcoming in knowledge about the workbench structure,  
it works, I see a shortcoming that it's not 'findable' in actual search
engines,  
and ... for whatever reason the function is named:  

   >>>  strto**d**128  <<<  

on my system, would have been unusual if something in IT would be constructed
without unusual idiosyncrasies ...
