So compiling for x86_64 will cause the documentation to be the same as compiling for avr. 2) The version of texinfo is documented at https://gcc.gnu.org/install/prerequisites.html which just mentions: Texinfo version 4.7 (or later) And if I understand correctly only 7.1+ has the fix. So the question becomes do we care about the warning for development but it does make a difference when doing releases. Because the documentation are pre-created during the release process. So maybe the bare min is document that 7.1 is recommended for this fix and older versions will work but will have warnings.
