I thought the "deferred" keyword was a backward-looking one, meant to mark bugs that had been deferred from previous releases and thus deserve a higher priority now, not ones that are currently being deferred to something in the future (that's what the SUSPENDED status is for). cc-ing David Malcolm who originally came up with the keyword
