Bug ID: 67059
Summary: gfortran --version output is inconsistent with the
rest of GCC
Product: gcc
Version: 6.0
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: fortran
Assignee: unassigned at gcc dot gnu.org
Reporter: rivanvx at gmail dot com
Target Milestone: ---
On Debian unstable with GCC 5.2.1 20150723 from experimental, I get
$ gcc --version
gcc (Debian 5.2.1-12) 5.2.1 20150723
Copyright (C) 2015 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
and g++/gdc/gccgo shows analogous output. However, gfotran has a different
output
$ gfortran --version
GNU Fortran (Debian 5.2.1-12) 5.2.1 20150723

which could be made more consistent with the rest of GCC. The attached patch
fixes the issue.
