4.6.3 also fails to build with the same error. 

I guess 4.8 would also fail if it still could be build without C++.



 %  ~/gcc/configure --disable-werror --disable-multilib

--enable-checking=release --enable-languages=c --disable-bootstrap

 % make



is sufficient to reproduce.
