Bug #: 50345
Summary: Incomplete GCC Internals sentence on LTO
Classification: Unclassified
Product: gcc
Version: unknown
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: other
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
In the GCC Internals manual, LTO chapter
(http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gccint/LTO.html) there's the sentence (2nd
paragraph):
"A, perhaps surprising, side effect of this feature is that any mistake in the
toolchain that leads to LTO information not being used (e.g. an older libtool
calling ld directly)."
I have a feeling that the mentioned 'surprising side effect' is never actually
explained.
